Cafe Granada in Hurgada

These 7 places in Hurgada were my favorite

Seventh year into my stay in Egypt, I finally made it to Hurgada. I drove over with my kids to join my parents, who were “hiding” there for weeks from European cold and lockdown due to covid situation.
I will not lie to you, It was not love at the first sight, but thank God I had plenty of time to look deeper and find those little gems, that were worth to see. Here is a list of places, we really enjoyed and why. I`m not, by any means, saying, that these are the top places or the only ones worth to visit in Hurgada. The review is very subjective to my taste.

Sushi Syake

Sushi Syake

is a place, that was recommended to us by fellow expat, who lives in Hurgada for while now. It is a tiny restaurant with 4 tables inside, that I would easily overlook, if I was just driving by and that would be a pitty. The place was spotless clean, very simple yet chic, food was absolutely amazing. We tried veggie noodles, seaweed salad and variety of sushi and everything was very tasty. Huge dinner for 4, cost us a bit less than 800 EGP.

Sahl Hasheesh

Sahl Hasheesh

was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. It‘s just a half an hour ride from the town. Such a lovely place, very new and still growing. It`s around 20 km long promenade along the bay, filled with hotels and compounds, some finished, some still under construction, with a lovely small city center. There are not that many places opened yet, but few restaurants and one BESTWAY supermarket are totally sufficient for the amount of visitors they have at the moment, I believe. We took some stunning pics by the fountains at the beginning of the old town and I‘ll definitely return there, when I get a chance.
BUS STOP

BUS STOP

a private beach in Sahl Hasheesh with drinks, food and live music was such a pleasant change after a week long stay in resort and animation team lacking the taste in entertainment and musical choices. I absolutely adored this place, filled with older crowd, playing pétanque or board games, dancing and enjoying the good life. I can totally imagine spending there a week or two straight. Even though the weather was breezy, it was amazingly warm there, cause it was located in a bay. Entry fee was 150 EGP per person, kids for free, Sahl Hasheesh residents 100 EGP. Plus drinks and food of course. But honestly, worth every penny. The cost for the day was around 1000 EGP for 3 entry tickets, 2 beers, fresh juice, water, coffee, pizza and pasta.

Fruit Market In Dahar

Fruit Market In Dahar

surprisingly this was the favorite experience for my parents. Veeery very local farmer‘s market, so colorful and so authentic. It was safe and very tourist friendly, most of the vendors spoke English or bit of a Russian language. Not to mention prices were dirt cheap.
New Marina

New Marina

is about a kilometer long promenade near Sheraton area, that has its own gate and parking lot inside. Street is dedicated to pedestrians only, filled with restaurants and fancy yachts. Kids can run freely or ride a scooter inside. There is a tag taf- little kids train, available for 20 EGP per ride per person.
BESTWAY Supermarket

BESTWAY Supermarket

might be an unusual choice for this list, but I want to mention it here, as one of the things I struggled with, was looking for a decent supermarket. Sadly even a big stores as Carrefour or Spinneys didn’t offer products or hygiene standards, as I was looking for. I know this supermarket chain from El Gouna and didn’t get disappointed even in Hurgada. Big variety of goods, healthy food, lots of snacks, bakery or fresh coffee with a seating area, it has it all and we used to visit frequently.
Cafe Granada

Cafe Granada

last day of our stay was dedicated to my Instagram friend‘s suggestion- Cafe Granada, situated at the coast, offering the best views in town. I loved everything about this place, the atmosphere, the music style, food, views, service, plenty of parking. Price for food was totally fair. Very recommended. When my kids grow up a bit, I would go there for a dinner and party at night as well.
